[Sing Pao & Ta Kung Pao]

To celebrate the airing of the 300th episode of "Virtues of Harmony II" yesterday, a special party was held in the studios as a group of cast members cut a cake and had a toast to the show in a happy atmosphere. At the event, Nancy Sit seemed rather pale and it turns out that she had suffered mild sunstroke earlier on whilst filming for a basketball scene with Albert Lo. However, Nancy managed to hold out until the end of the party before going to see the doctor, showing her professionalism right through to the end.

By the end of the celebration, Nancy was looking extremely unwell and she sat to one side not taking any interviews, just drinking water and constantly wiping the sweat from her brow as her maid helped to put a jacket over her and many of her colleagues came to check she was okay. After resting for around half an hour, Nancy was taken by her driver to the doctors. Afterwards, Nancy said on the phone that the doctor had confirmed she was suffering from sunstroke and she had very bad sinuses earlier and a headache. The doctor told her she should have gone and sat in the shade and not stayed out in the sun, but she felt that she did not want to delay the filming for the other cast members, especially as they were holding this party.

When the reporters praised her professional attitude for holding out until the end of the party, Nancy said: "I had no choice but to keep going, but as soon as I left the studio, I was sick. I am fine now, just a little dizzy. Thank you for your concern. (Will you be cutting down on your outside location shoots?) I can't, this series is very rushed."

Afterwards, the show's producer Tsui Yu On indicated that originally more filming for Nancy yesterday, but as she has to rest after her sunstroke, these have been moved. He also says that he has tried to cut down outside shoots wherever he can now, especially as the rainy season will affect the progress of this. With Nancy playing basketball in her scene with Albert who had earlier suffered from a heart condition, did he cope alright? He says there was no problem because has has been keeping with his exercise regime and his health has been fine all along.

When Michael Tse was checking on Nancy, he let slip the words: "Surely it didn't do what I said it would! (Why do you say that?) I am talking about myself, I played a game with the sun today and it won." Bondy Chiu was also at the location shoot, but she was just cheering from the sidelines and did not have to play basketball, but she says that even that was hard work.

During the party, Michael and Bondy locked arms in a drink before pretending to have a passionate kiss, seeming just like a real married couple. Bondy laughed later: "We are always like this, Nancy says that we will get married after filming this. There is no chance though, he is not my cup of tea and my own (boyfriend) is great! Michael and I have worked together for three years now and we get on really well, and because we know each other, our act seems very close. However, sometimes we take it too far and it gets cut!" Are you worried that your boyfriend will be jealous? Bondy says that her boyfriend knows Michael and they often go out for meals together. She also knows Michael's other half and her boyfriend trusts her a lot, because she does not like Michael's type.

Despite the days when Edward Mok Ka Yiu acted as guarantor for his then girlfriend Amy Chung Wai Yee before she fled to America leaving him having to work himself to the bone to pay off the mounting debt, he has still been willing to lend money to his friends. He says this is not because he is rich, but because he gives in too easily to his friends. As for Kenix Kwok, before she entered the industry, she also lent money to her friend for an emergency, but it was never returned and she even lost her friend, so after entering showbiz, she never lends money to anyone.

Edward, Kenix and Chiu Ching Yee were filming for "Blossoming Hearts" earlier in a scene where Edward swindles money from both the women, but they see him getting his just desserts as his own money is taken from him by Lam Suk Man and decide to seek their own revenge by beating him up and making him run. In reality, it was Edward who was sold out by Amy Chung, but yet he still stands boldly to help his friends as his current loans to friends amass a five figure sum.

Edward laughs: "Maybe the script is following my story, but I have forgotten about the incident now anyway. When you lend money out, then you are resigned to never seeing it again, but I am too soft and end up giving in. From today onwards I will not lend anyone any money!" He also gives advice to newcomers that they should save money when they have it and rather eat it than lend it to friends, because the most likely cause of friends to fall out is over money.

Kenix also has an experience where she lent a friend a six figure sum before she entered showbiz. She says: "I am a person who will help when I can and I used to sell insurance so I made some money. A friend needed an operation, so I lent them the money I had worked so hard to save, but not only did they not give it back, they even decided not to be my friend any more. Dodo (Cheng) is right, chasing a debt is harder than asking for a loan, so after entering the industry, I have never lent anyone any money because no-one will believe that artistes can be poor. Although people have asked, I have said no because this is my principle."

Model Sofie Rahman (Lee Ka Wai) and Joe Ma took part in a promotional event yesterday and revealed their rather racy advertisement with Sofie dressed in a very sexy outfit and a topless Joe placing his head on her chest.

Already having a remarkable figure, Sofie has signed as a spokesperson for a breast enhancement product and she says she has always been envious of the foreign models and their larger breasts. When asked whether as a model, it is better to have a flatter chest, Sofie says that this is not the case because a more balanced body looks better. She also says that she dare not wear low cut tops before but she will even wear them on the catwalk now because she has increased her confidence. She is happy to have gone from a 31A to a 33B.

Joe Ma has reduced his waist from 38 inches to 33 inches and he hopes to be able to lose another seven to eight pounds. When asked if he was embarrassed about his ads with Sofie, he says that he was not really leaning on her, so he was not embarrassed, but he was more scared about her revealing herself. When asked if he had to run this by with his wife before making such a daring ad, he says that he does not need to as she used to be a model too and understands the nature of the work.

There were reports yesterday that after Lawrence Ng, Joe Ma is the most likely male TVB artiste to attract rumours, but Joe points out that he has not had many rumours and is not afraid that this will affect his image. When asked if he will be keeping his distance from female artistes in the future, he says he will not because the magazines write these things all the time and if they are not spreading romantic rumours, they will say that I have fallen out with my co-stars.

Mggie Cheung was a guest model for a designer watch label yesterday and as well as her fee, she was also given a watch worth $32,000. However, the watch that she was modelling was worth a staggering $290,000 and she says that she was overwhelmed as soon as she put it on and she hopes that she can convince the PR to give her the watch as a gift!

The watch that Maggie was given was flown in especially from Switzerland and has her name engraved on the back. She says that this style of watch suits her age and she is very fond of very unisex watch designs. She has over ten at home and when she has money, she will buy watches to collect. However, as her wrist is quite small, she will never share watches with her boyfriend.

Maggie has just returned from Wuxi, where she has been filming and she will shortly be heading out to Shanghai to film for mainland production "Chang Hen Ge" (Song of Everlasting Hatred). As this is a modern series, it will not be as hard work as an ancient costume drama, even in the hot weather. She says that she will be away for six months on this trip and she has been looking for a place in the Shanghai area where she can stay in comfort. As her good friend Elaine Ng lives in the suburbs, she will not be staying with her as most of Maggie's filming will be in the centre of the city.

The series will begin filming in August, but she will be setting out soon to prepare for filming. She will be learning to speak Mandarin with a Shanghainese accent and also some gestures of a 1930's lady. She has sixteen episodes worth of scenes that will take six months to film. When asked if she is giving up a lot for this show, she says that there are many offers of work in the Mainland for her, but she is very choosy about what she accepts and so this is the first Mainland series for her. This series will also be entered for a film festival so she feels it will be worth it. Asked if she thinks she will win at the Golden Rooster awards with this show, she says she has not thought about it as she just hopes for a good start and entry into the mainland market.

The thing that Maggie will miss the most with her departure from Hong Kong will be her dog. She says: "This dog has been with me since it was born and it has been fifteen years, I am most afraid that it will suddenly die. He is like my son because I don't have a boyfriend or a friend that I have shared fifteen years with. For him to live so long is down to the care I usually give him, feeding him chicken and lingzhi."

Also, Maggie was not named by the HK International Filmart as one of the top ten overseas export television artistes despite coming top of the most popular artistes polls earlier. She is not disappointed about this because the different organisations have different criteria for their polls.

[Oriental Daily]

There is much fear in showbiz recently, with many artistes and singers being linked with drugs. True good girls in the industry are few and far between, but Nnadia Chan is among them, so she can boldly speak out and say: "I am not afraid."

As for her reaction to the recent drugs cases in the entertainment industry, Nnadia admits she was very shocked. Has she ever been tempted since she entered the industry? She says: "I have never been in that situation and I have never seen anyone take drugs in front of me. I have no interest in these people and they daren't come near me. I will not touch them and I am such a bore, not going dancing or clubbing. Even going to Karaoke will just be with my boring friends or my sister, so never mind drugs, I daren't even take a cold tablet without thinking twice."

Nnadia hopes that these incidents will not affect the image on the whole of the entertainment industry as she believes these are one-off cases: "There are still many good people in showbiz who are very positive and healthy. Also when people make mistakes, it does not mean that they will be wrong forever. Everyone has done wrong, but the most important thing is to learn and change. I hope that everyone will take care of their bodies and themselves."

Nancy Sit took part in a charity event yesterday at Olympian City, signing autographs, singing and holding a sale in aid of disabled people. Nancy reveals that all the items in the sale have been donated by her sponsors: "A lot of the time, when sponsors are asking me to be their spokesperson and they ask whether they need to donate any items for charity. However, they are all very willing to do so and this is a good thing because they can help many people. As well as my own donations, I will always take time out to join in no matter how busy I am and my son has come along to help out too."

Also, the Ka Yin Mama Arts Centre has began enrolment for its various courses and Nancy says that as well as children taking part, there are also many young people in their teens and twenties signing up for courses such as the acting and DJ classes. Nancy says: "Yes there are a lot of young people who like me and they present me with flowers and send emails to me. I usually send the standard response of 'Thank you very much! I miss you too.' so as not to create any fantasies. I don't know why that there are less fans in their fifties who email me, maybe it is because they don't know how to use a computer!"

Also, Nancy will be filming in China with William Hung in their new film next month and they will shortly begin recording the theme song for the movie.

Mariane Chan has finally found three new spokespersons for her slimming and beauty company - Ruby Lin, Sofie Lee and the stylish male Joe Ma. Mariane indicates that she chose Joe not only because of his current popularity and contemporary air, but also because of his great confidence that shows when men get fit. On the day of the shoot, although this was the first time that the three stars had worked together, they hit it off immediately and the shoot went very smoothly. The three also laughed that it has taken this long for them to meet each other and feel that their pace and appearances complement each other and it is a shame they didn't meet earlier.

The usually conservative Ruby Lin is challenging the limits of her sexuality and laughs that her figure has improved greatly after using the products she is representing. She now has feminine curves and is full of confidence to try more sexy performances in the future. Mariane also says that she couldn't believe the mature elegance that was eminating from the usually childlike Ruby. Joe is also relishing in his good fortune as not only can he work with two beautiful ladies, there are a couple of shots with him and Sofie in rather compromising positions. When asked if he felt embarrassed, he says no, because they are all professionals. This is the most daring shoot he has ever done and hopes that it will give everyone a refreshing surprise.

Don Li took part in a promotion for "Spiderman 2" yesterday and took part in a lego building competition. Don won and took away with him a limited edition Spiderman Lego set. Don indicated that being a singer nowadays, you are very driven because the fans are more forceful, especially the girls, who call at him to remember to stop the car and take letters from him and even causing Don to be told off by police officers!

The story is that Don was in Central having his hair cut when six female fans who were waiting outside started fighting. When the security guards called the police, the police found out that the girls had fallen out because they didn't like the look of each other. The officer then told Don that he should teach his fans to be civilised, giving him a telling off before allowing him to leave, feeling rather subdued. He says: "I thought that only boys fought, but my impressions have changed now."

As for the suggestion that Don was trying to patch things up between Boyz, he says that he did arrange to go and play ice hockey with them, but this was not with any other intentions. He says he also asked about the incident at the salon and he does not believe there is any animoscity between them. They also made arrangements to go for a barbecue together but this was called off because of the hot weather.

Also, Don will be having his hair shaved on 5th July for new series "Ten Brothers" and as he has a scar on his head from an earlier injury, he does not have much confidence in his shaven look.

[Oriental Daily & The Sun]

Alex Fong Lik San was taking part in the filming for a youth sports promotion event to encourage young people to take part in some sports every day. Alex underwent some hardship for this, saying that he had to endure the sunshine and the temperatures in the thirties for four hours together with a group of young people and the crew. Although the filming itself only took thirty minutes to complete, his clothes were full of sweat and he had to change half way. Also his make-up melted in the sunshine and he was forced to appear with his 'natural look'.

Also, Alex's appeal also stretches to animals as a dog appeared during filming and was staring on at the proceedings from a distance. When Alex started his demonstrations, maybe the dog wanted to learn a few things from him too!

With the reports of the recent police investigations and questioning of several showbiz people on drugs related cases, including the ex-boyfriend of a famous female movie star and a famous male singing star, Alex says that he does not know who these people are. He also admits that with so much negative news in the entertainment world at the moment, his family are very worried about him: "They say to me: son, you can touch anything, but don't touch drugs!"

Alex adds: "They are just helping with investigations, I don't know, I couldn't get any news. There are so many people dating in this industry, so it could be anyone and these are just rumours anyway, we have to wait to see if there are any arrests before we know if it is real. The reports recently have used many aliases and we can only guess about it until something real happens." He is more worried about the impression that this gives others about his profession and the belief in artiste's images: "My family said to me that I am not to touch drugs and I will listen to them because I agree with Deep Ng's words that the basic duty of being a son is not to make your parents worry about you."

Deep Ng headed out to Sai Kung location yesterday with rather puffy eyes to work on filming for "Police Cadet Brave Hearts", but when he arrived he found out that the shoot had been cancelled at the last minute, so he returned home before heading out again for the evening filming session in the studio.

Heading out for filming at 10:45 am, Deep was met by a group of press reporters, but he did not answer any of their questions, simply nodding politely before getting into his car. Therefore it was unknown why his eyes seemed very puffy and swollen. When he arrived at the location, the car stopped and waited for half an hour, seemingly waiting for the crew. Then there was some communication before Deep's assistant drove him back to his home again. Later Deep indicated that the shoot had been cancelled.

As for the rumoured fight between Kenny and Steven from Boyz, Deep says he was rather surprised: "Really, I don't think so. Let me call Kenny first!" The reason for the cancelled shoot was possibly down to the number of press reporters gathered at the location and when asked about this on the phone later, producer Wong Wai Sing said: "It was cancelled, but I need to find out why from the director because Deep should have been filming and I don't know why the director didn't need him. I will ask the director, but he is working at the moment and I haven't been able to contact him."

Monie Tung was filming for a TVB music programme yesterday together with some under-tens doing some gymnastics. Monie was rather worried during filming that she would not meet with the requirements. When the gym teacher led them in some stretching exercises, Monie managed them all fine and could even do the difficult moves such as the splits and fold up her body, leaving the crew rather stunned.

It turns out that Monie has some dance training and therefore has some background. She says: "I did do some sport when I was at school, especially dance, so I have the foundations and at first I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it, because it has been a while, but luckily I managed to pick it up again after some warm ups." Monie laughs that even the children were asking her for tips, making her feel rather flattered.

Also, Monie says that she will be watching the gymnastics events at the Olympics because she wanted to become an athlete when she was younger in the hope that she could represent Hong Kong. She says: "Although I cannot do this now, I don't think I have wasted my work because as a singer, I sometimes have to do some difficult dance moves."

The weather forecasters issued another extreme heat warning yesterday with temperatures in the thirties and with most people staying inside for the air conditioning, a thought was spared for the artistes filming on location and having to endure the hot weather. Michael Tao, Kenix Kwok and Bernice Liu were filming in Tsak Yu Chung in a promotional video for "Blossoming Hearts" and although they were all so hot that they could barely breathe, it was amazing to see that Michael was still wearing long sleeved clothing. Using up tens of tissues inn just half an hour, Michael caused concern as to whether he might succumb to heat stroke! He said: "Earlier we had to film a fight scene on the beach and I suffered from mild sunstroke, but I am too vain! (What is the best thing about your clothes?) My wife bought it so of course it is the best!"

The girls on the other hand were smart as they wore little tops to release the heat and when they weren't needed on set, they stood in the shade of an umbrella. Kenix laughs: "If you are dry-fried then of course you will suffer from the sun! If I am not needed on set, I will sit in the car and enjoy the air con!" Bernice also has her mother's ginseng honey water to help with the heat.

Shirley Yeung, Hawick Lau and Alex Fong were filming in Kowloon Tong for "Treasure in the Family" yesterday. The scene tells of Hawick declaring his love for Shirley and as they gaze deeply into each other's eyes, they naturally share a kiss, but Alex who secretly admires Shirley watches on enviously.

During the filming, Alex was particularly mischievous as he used his phone to take photos of Shirley and Hawick when they kissed and even filmed them with the video camera, also giving them hints on how to kiss when they watched the playback in between takes. In the end, they had to kiss three times before the director was happy with the shot and Alex laughed after the second take: "If this carries on, let me do the kissing!" Alex was later asked whether he has plenty of kissing experience, making him such an expert. He says: "I have experience of a first kiss, but not in front of the camera because I have never filmed any kissing scenes. (If you had to film a kiss scene, who would you choose?) Anyone will do!" He also says that this could be taken that is is not fussy, or it could be taken that he'll have anyone who comes!

As for Hawick, who has filmed kissing scenes before, he seemed extremely nervous about the scenes and before the shoot, he kept asking the director when they would be filming. Before the shoot, he took a few deep breaths and the director had to tell him not to get so excited. Hawick admitted he was rather nervous and laughed: "It was a good job there were no tongues needed, otherwise it would have been even more embarrassing. The most surprising thing was how excited Alex was - when he had a scene earlier where he had to give Shirley a piggyback, he was already extremely happy!"

Shirley indicated that she was quite nervous beforehand, but found herself very calm when the actual scene was filmed and she never imagined how nervous Hawick would be. The director made them shoot several takes because he felt that the girl was taking the lead too much. Shirley was also asked if she had brushed her teeth beforehand, she laughs that she had not brushed her teeth, but she did chew some gum. She indicated that this is not her first kiss scene and she did not have to notify her boyfriend.

[Ta Kung Pao]

Roger Kwok, Kiki Sheung and Cherrie Kong took part in a radio show interview yesterday, promoting their new series "To Get Unstuck in Time". As for the 29 point ratings result in its opening week, Roger says he is satisfied with this and he says openly that his screen mother Kiki is fantastic. Roger says: "In the show, Kiki is arranged to play my mother at at first it was hard to accept because she is not that much older than me and I was worried about the results, but we had great chemistry when we worked together and it was great. Although this was the case, one such experience is enough."

As for this being one of TVB's better results for a while, Roger says that as it was the Dragon Boat Festival last week, the ratings went up by two points and he was pleased with this. Also there are many viewers who watch on the web and these ratings cannot be measured. He believes that the most important thing are the reviews that back up the ratings. When Roger was jokingly asked if he would wear swimming trunks if the ratings were good, he replied in jest: "I can't, but ask Cherrie Kong!" In response to this, Cherrie says that whatever Roger wears, she will wear too.

Also, being praised by Roger for being a fantastic mother, Kiki also says that no matter how good it was, once is enough!

TVB's new series "Police Cadet Brave Hearts" was filming on location in Stanley yesterday at a watersports centre in a scene where the cadets go kayaking and Fiona Sit's character meets with difficulties, leading to a heroic rescue by Sammul Chan, who is also swept into the water. As they are playing police cadets, the cast were all kitted out in their uniforms, but with the heat warning from the weather forecastings, they were all sweating buckets and when she was not needed on the set, Fiona hid under the parasol with some of the other female cadets, whereas the men were more lively, playing volleyball and with water pistols.

When the press arrived, Sammul was nowhere to be seen, with the earlier rumours and denials of a rift between Sammul and Fiona, is there still any animoscity between them?

Later, when he arrived, Sammul was asked why he was not present for the start of filming. He explains: "They had arranged for some of the others to learn some kayaking basics in the morning but as I already have a three star kayaking and life guard certificate and I had a late shoot the night before, so the director told me to come a little bit later. Originally I had planned to arrive after lunch, but the assistant director said that a big group of press had arrived, so I rushed here." Talking of whether he made bodily contact with Fiona when they filmed the rescue scene, he laughs: "Isn't that a good thing to make contact? (Are you guys okay now?) I have had enough sleep and am awake now. (Are you worried about sunstroke? (No, because I am used to the sun from filming at Wong Chuk Hang."

Fiona Sit says that she has only had three hours sleep in the last couple of days, so she is worried that her drowning scene might become real. When asked if she is afraid of Sammul playing tricks on her and letting her take a few more gulps of sea water, she laughs: "How would he? He is very professional and he is my best friend. I am not afraid of drowning, more of cramping. Am I worried about body contact? I wear a life jacket, so even if there is contact it will be limited to my limbs." With her short hair, Fiona's neck looks particularly long and there are plenty of her 'long neck' pictures being distributed on the internet. She says that she finds them quite amusing, but she has not been offended. She laughs: "People didn't know I had a long neck before, but my arms and legs are quite long so my neck is too, this makes it all match."

Yesterday was Ron Ng's first attempt at kayaking, but he seemed to take to it rather quickly and he says that although this is the first time for him, he has rowed a small boat before so he has some experience. He remembers that seven or eight years ago, he and some friends went to Woo Kai Sha to row, but the strong wind blew them towards the refugee camp and they were taken away by the officers there, leaving them rather embarrassed.

When asked whether there was any danger when they came to film, Ron says: "The coach had prepared an inflatable rescue boat to cope with any emergencies. (Are you worried about fainting with the heat?) I have had enough sleep, so I should be okay." When a reporter told him not to faint in case he was mistaken for having taken drugs, he says: "I do have a nasal allergy, but it is dry and I don't have a runny nose." Also talking of him spraying people with a water pistol during filming, leading to the director telling him to settle down, he says: "I was disturbing Yeung Ying Wai's rehearsal, so the director told everyone to be quiet. In fact we are all very good and when we are waiting to shoot, we kick the feathershuttle to pass the time because we are healthy young men."

A promotional event was held for "Hearts of Fencing 2" yesterday and as well as some of the cast members, the author of the "Hearts of Fencing" stories Leung Chi Shan was also present. Cartoonist Suet Ching will be launching a comic version of the show in August and she presented the female stars of the show with pictures of their characters yesterday.

Monie Tung will be playing a mystery character in the new series and she will have a romance with newcomer Choi Kei Chun, but it will not be very passionate as they only have hugging scenes. As she does not know Choi Kei Chun very well, they will try and get to know each other a little before they film. When asked if she does not want to film any kiss scenes, she says that this is not the case, but it must not be forced and it needs to be natural. Monie is yet to have her first screen kiss and she laughs that she would most like to give it to Andy Lau because his kiss scene with Maggie Cheung in "As Tears Go By" left a deep impression. Also, she will be playing beach volleyball in the show, but she is afraid of getting a tan, so she has been carrying an umbrella around with her whilst filming.

With the recent news of the two members of Boyz fighting in a salon over Maggie Fu, Steven's sister Jenny Cheung was asked about this incident at the event. She says that she has read the reports, but she does not believe her brother would fight. She says that Steven and Kenny are good friends and do not fight.

Jenny says that Steven is quite timid and is quite naive, so he rarely loses his temper with anyone or argues. With rumours that Kenny yells at him all the time, she says that she believes that Kenny is just advising him and as he is older than Steven, then he is just doing this for Steven's good. As for reports that Steven is being isolated, Jenny says that she has just been on the phone to her brother and there is no such thing. Deep Ng has made a number of public appearances since returning to work after his arrest and yesterday he took part in a telephone interview with Nancy Sit on her radio show. As well as apologising again to his parents, he spoke from experience as he warned his fellow singers: "Don't play with these things, it's not worth it."

At the request of Nancy, Deep said these words and then added: "This is not a matter of health or money, it is about being a disappointment to the people around you. The punishment has been great and I have affected many people around me. After this incident, not only do I have to bear the responsibility, many people around me have had much to bear." Nancy comforted him, saying he will get over it.

Deep goes on to say that the most worrying thing for him was how to face up to his actions and how to explain it to his parents. Nancy asked him how he will make it up to them and he said: "Be myself, love myself, learn from my mistake and apologise to my parents." Also, in response to his fans' support for him, he adds: "I will stand up bravely and fight for my opportunities, I will not give up music or singing. I will be brave, but it will be difficult and I will be determined. Although it may not work, I will still stand up again because people's words and encouragement will make me go forward again."

Reported to be basking in her newly found romance, Ada Choi joined fellow cast members for her mainland series "Heroic Doctor Legend" including Lawrence Ng, William So and Dave Wang to continue filming and when asked about her romance with Zhang Jin, she joked: "Do you want to die?" before saying that she just wants to talk about her work as she does not want to use this for promotion. When it was joked that they should be happy seeing each other day and night, she says: "I see all the cast members day and night and am still very happy." When the reporters added that even William So is happy for her finding her romance, she replied getting impatient: "If he is a friend, he should not say things like that!" Then she changed the subject.

Joking with Ada, William So then responded to the Deep Ng incident and having been through the situation himself, he totally understands his situation and hopes that people will give him the chance to change for the better.

Lawrence hopes that he will finish filming his part soon, so that he can return to Hong Kong and begin work on "Healing Hands III". Talking of his earlier negativity towards the press, he says that he was not in a good mood that day and hopes that the press will understand. He will apologise when he returns to Hong Kong.

Anne Heung has been dating her boyfriend Ian Lo, executive at talent management company M8 and their relationship has been good, but Anne has been visiting the hospital a lot recently and reports suggest that her boyfriend has become ill leading to unstoppable bleeding and needing a blood transfusion, leaving Anne very worried indeed.

When Anne and Ian first started dating, there was a lot of gossip around them, first with the revelation that Ian was the nephew of casino tycoon Stanley Ho's sister and suggestions that the grandeur was only on the surface. However, this has not affected their relationship and Anne has openly talked about the happy times in their relationship. However, Anne has been heading straight to the hospital straight after filming recently and it turns out that she has gone to care for her ailing boyfriend.

Reports indicate that Ian felt something wrong with his body at the beginning of the month and then started bleeding for no apparent reason. At first he thought nothing of it, but it as it got worse, he went for medical treatment and after losing about seven pints of blood, the situation became critical and he had to have an emergency operation. After the surgery, Ian rested for a week before being discharged, but last week, he suddenly went back into hospital with an unknown condition. when the reporters called Ian, he admitted that he had quite a large operation: "It is not a major illness and I am out of hospital now and back at work. There was just a problem with my blood vessels that left me bleeding uncontrollably and at my worst, I had lost half the blood in my body. After a few weeks in hospital I am fine now, but I had to go back for another transfusion because the doctors said I could not take in so much all at once. (Was Anne very worried?) I am fine now, so there is nothing to worry about."

With her boyfriend out of hospital, Anne breathes a sigh of relief: "His main problem was anaemia, but he is almost completely better now and as long as he follows the doctor's instructions, he will be fine. (Have you made some special food for him?) My cooking is only so-so, so I asked my maid to make him some soup. When I had time I would go and see him and he recovered more quickly because he was happy."

Frankie Lam's father Lam Wai passed away recently at the age of 76 and his Christian funeral will take place today at the Hong Kong Funeral Parlour. At the wake yesterday, Frankie and his family had everything arranged, but as daughter-in-law Kenix Kwok had to take part in a costume fitting for new show "Ten Brothers", she arrived late at the hall.

Frankie indicates that as his father had been in a coma for many weeks so he did not ask for anything to be buried with him, but his mother has selected some of his father's clothes and his personal items to be placed in his coffin and the three siblings wrote a letter of farewell to their father, detailing their feelings towards him and the family. Frankie says that his mother is a very traditional woman who has been totally devoted to her husband and family since her marriage. Everything in the home was governed by their father, so losing a long time partner and husband has left her feeling quite empty. Although Frankie's father has been ill for a long time and his passing has been expected for a while, the family are still very saddened by the event.

To avoid his mother becoming too upset, Frankie and his brother and sister have taken it in turn to look after their mother in their homes, inviting her friends to join her and keep her company. However when she saw her husband's body yesterday, she was unable to hold back her tears. Frankie says: "The most comforting thing for us was that the was that my father had become a Christian whilst he was still alive, so when he passed away, my mother, sister and I prayed for him, thanking God for taking him away from the pain of illness. Originally, my mother could retire in comfort, but she had to look after my father and couldn't even go out, staying in with the maid to look after him all the time, so with my father's passing, it is a release for both him and my mother."

The promotional videos for Hong Kong made by this year's Miss Hong Kong contestants was premiered earlier and as well as the event being attended by the 18 girls, the director of filming Cheng Dan Shui was also present. The contestants were split into three groups, covering the topics 'shopping', 'green fields' and 'cultural history' to film three different clips for the competition.

The winners were chosen via a public vote, but because there was a draw between the first two groups, tutor Cheng Dan Shui was asked to cast the deciding vote. Finally group 2 consisting of contestants 7 to 12 won. Their film on the topic 'green fields' depicted 8 Winnie Shum playing Lui Kei and 9 Lulu Ng playing Rose in a classic scene from 'Kei Gor and Rose'. Their starring roles were voted for by the others in their group who took on backstage roles.

Chen went on to comment that the girls were very united and are very articulate. There are some suggestions that this year's contestants are over-enthusiastic, but he feels that this is not a bad thing because this proves that they are not afraid of anything and this can bring out the best of their acting in the clips.

Raymond Lam and Niki Chow were guests at the opening of a health food store yesterday and amidst reports that some herbs mixed with drugs will cause poisoning, Niki says that she has consulted with her doctor first and she will not take medicines without checking them carefully as she is afraid of losing her mind. Niki also indicates she is very pleased with the fee, but she is not yet the spokesperson for the company. After finishing her current work, she will be taking two weeks off. Originally she had planned to take her parents to America for a vacation, but she doesn't feel there is enough time and will be going away to South East Asia instead. However, she is also afraid of mosquito borne diseases in hot places as she tells of how she was terrified when a moth flew into her home earlier and now all the windows in her home stay shut so that no insects or reptiles can crawl inside.

Talking of this unwanted guest, she is still a little afraid as she says that she was watching television when this very big moth flew straight for her face. She was so afraid that she slammed the door and called for her father to kill the intruder. Her father killed and cremated the insect to remove any trace of germs. Another time, her sister found a lizard and she used the idea of picking it up with the vacuum cleaner and waiting for the maid to come and clear it up the next day. She laughs she has become a pest removal expert.

With Rain Li's earlier indication that she had received rude text messages earlier on in her career, there have been guesses that have dragged Raymond's name into this issue. Having been filming in Beijing for "Tossing Rain Turning Cloud", Raymond who has returned to Hong Kong for a short while was unaware of the news and asked whether it was a trick played by her fans.

Raymond says: "If it wasn't fans, then it is rather outrageous, but could it be some prank messages that she received by accident? Maybe it wasn't done on purpose." He also says that he has never received any provocative text messages and that it would be quite frightening if he did. Only his friends know his phone number and they will all call him directly and not send messages. Also, if he had a girlfriend, he would not send text messages to her because he prefers to contact people directly.

Raymond took part in the store opening event yesterday before heading straight back to Beijing to continue filming. He will be back again soon to promote new series "Twin of Brothers". He says that for this show he and Ron have sacrificed a lot, apart from their 'important parts', all the other parts of their body will be on screen, so they have great expectations for this show.

[Sing Pao Special Report]

Angela Tong is famous for her beautiful white and smooth skin and her squeaky voice, leading to her being cast often in 'mistress', 'third party' or flirtatious characters. However, with her Western personality, Angela does not mind these roles being negative and is not worried at all about being set in this image or being misunderstood as she stands by her lively and tempting ly attractive manner.

Angela took part in Miss Chinese Internation 1995 and entered the showbiz industry as a result, signing for TVB as well as making some films. Approaching ten years at the TV station, Angela feels her progress has not been bad as she quickly left a lasting impression on the viewers. Among her trademarks is her beautiful white skin and this is all down to her constant care and hard work in looking after her skin. "I am very afraid of getting a tan, mainly because there will be a swimsuit imprint, so I will constantly keep putting on sunscreen."

However, this pretty girl has her clumsy times and earlier when she was filming a travel special in Egypt, she had her sunscreen at hand, but after putting it on, she suddenly felt very itchy, later she found out that it was out of date. If there is a need for it, would she tan her precious skin? "That's not a problem, as long as it still looks beautiful when it is tanned." As well as her pale skin, 'flirty' and 'cutey' seem to equal Angela. In the past, her characters have either been spoiled little girls, flirtatious women or marriage breakers - does she feel bad about this? "No, I think it is great fun, but a lot of people do think that I am really conceited and a flirt."

Angela was filming a travel special earlier with Evergreen Mak and after working with him for a few days, he laughs that he never imagined Angela to be the way she is. She says: "Many people think that I am very racy and fussy, but when people get to know me they know I am not like that. I will act cutey, but only towards my family." In her ten years in the industry, she has rarely been linked romantically with anyone and Angela finds this rather strange. "I don't know why, maybe it is because people who know me know I am not the type to play around. Usually when I go out there is a big group of male friends with me, so even if someone wants to date me, they will be frightened away!"

Since her emergence, Angela has given people a very sensuous feeling, but she has not really had any groundbreaking performances. She says she does not mind: "If I feel comfortable being sexy then I don't mind. Of course I will not show anything." Although this is the case, Angela's attraction is still 100% and recently she has been voted in as of of the most wanted female stars for a one night stand. She says she does not mind at all and laughs out loud: "Really! I really don't mind. Out of so many female stars, they remember me, that makes me very happy! As for what other people think, I can't control this."

Having returned from filming in Bali earlier, Sheren Tang seemed to be in high spirits and this is because of her romantic experiences on her trip as she and Shek Sau went to visit a special weddings hotel. Touched by the romantic atmosphere, it left her with the urge to get married. She says: "I have filmed many marriage scenes but the feeling this time was very good because the hotel was very romantic and there were three girls singing hymns. It was so touching, so although I still don't have a boyfriend, I would like to get married. When I do get married in the future, I would like to come here for the ceremony."

There have been reports that 'Fussy King' Kwong Wa has been subjected to a boycott from his fellow co-stars on the set of "Proud Heroes of Chu and Han" currently filming in Wuxi, due to his tardiness after make-up and his refusal to film in the depths of the forest, making Melissa Ng cry.

Since TVB's new show starring Adam Cheng, Kwong Wa, Maggie Cheung, Cerina De Graca and Melissa Ng started filming, the borders have been clearly marked by the cast as 'Xiang Yu' Kwong Wa appears to have thousands strong armies in front of the camera, but is being singled out behind the camera. In fact, when the cast and crew were still filming in Hong Kong, there had already been some friction with his constant late arrival for filming, but his fussiness has not subsided after heading to Wuxi as he leaves everyone waiting for him as he still checks himself in the mirror and stirs the tempers of the crew.

Coupled with his self-acclaimed 'big brother' status, leading to his temper tantrums and refusal to continue, even Adam is left speechless. The worst thing is the delay to filming when he causes problems due to his bad moods. In one scene being filmed on a mountain, his scenes were done first and then he was asked to make up a few shots with Melissa, but he is reported to have said: "We don't need to film these parts, we did them in Hong Kong." After this, he left and after three or four hours of waiting, Melissa was left crying uncontrollably. When other cast members heard about this, they felt that they could not stand Kwong Wa's behaviour and have decided to hold a mass boycott against him.

Yesterday when Melissa was asked about this on the telephone, she says that she did not want to talk about it again as it has passed. She just says: "I don't want to comment on other peoples attitudes and actions, I will just do my own work and I know that justice is in my heart. TIme will prove everything." Luckily she will begin filming for "Healing Hands III" soon, working with her old friends Bowie Lam and Moses Chan once again.

TVB's new series "Ten Brothers" will be led by Kenix Kwok and Frankie Lam who have not worked together in ten years who play the parents of the brothers. Yesterday, they took part in the costume fitting at TVB city together with several of the brothers. Producer Poon Ka Tak is very nervous about these ten young male actors and personally checked their hairpieces and make up. As each of the brothers has a uniquely strange look, they will be tied in with plenty of computer generated imagery to bring them to life on the screen.

However, only some of the actors yesterday had their heads shaved, including 'Flying Five' Nicky Law Kwun Chung, 'Metal Head Six' Kwok Ching, 'Tunnelling Eight' Russell Cheung Chi Heen and 'Big Mouth Nine' Cheung Wai. After receiving their lucky packets, they left with a fresh feeling head, just right for the hot weather, so they don't feel too bad about losing their hair.

As for 'Thick Skin Four' Don Li, 'Thousand Mile Eye' Lai Lok Yi and 'Strong Man Three' Jack Wu, they all have work on hand to complete before they can go under the shears. Among them, as Lai Lok Yi has to film for the Olympics, then he has had special dispensation from the producer to keep his hair until after the Olympic coverage. As for the other brothers, they have all received notification from TVB that they will have their heads shaved on the 5th of July at a lucky hour.
